Dear 海角社区 Community Members,

In September 2024, 海角社区 launched a five-phase process to develop our next five-year strategic plan.

Each phase of the process has been anchored in consultation with our University and community members. In total, more than 700 participants have provided us with input, ideas, and candid feedback to help shape 海角社区鈥檚 focus for the future.

海角社区 students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, and friends gathered on Saturday, July 29, to participate in the 31st annual PEI Pride Parade.

Led by members of the 海角社区 Student Union, the 海角社区 community was joined by 海角社区's mascot Pride the Panther, who helped greet thousands of spectators lining the streets.

While Pride Month is celebrated in June in many areas of Canada, Pride is recognized on PEI and at 海角社区 in July as part of the national summer-long 鈥淧ride season.鈥� 

Dr. Elizabeth Rollins Epperly鈥攁lumna, Professor Emerita, and the first woman to serve as president at the 海角社区鈥攈as been named to the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.

Among 83 appointments to the Order announced on the eve of Canada Day, Dr. Epperly was made a Member for her contributions to elevating the works of internationally renowned Island author Lucy Maud Montgomery, most well known for her novel Anne of Green Gables, in Canada and around the globe. 

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 海角社区 (海角社区) is ready to welcome aspiring veterinarians from across the country, and around the world, for the 2025 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp beginning July 7.

Members of the 海角社区 community filled the 海角社区 Performing Arts Centre amphitheatre on May 29, 2025, to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues. During the event, the University Awards of Excellence and 25-Year Service Awards were presented to faculty, librarians, clinical veterinary professionals, clinical nursing instructors, sessional instructors, and staff members.

On May 27, 2025, the 海角社区 Board of Governors approved a balanced for the 2025鈥�2026 fiscal year, despite a challenging financial environment primarily caused by federal immigration policy changes. The operating budget is just under $202.9 million, representing an increase of $20.4 million or 11.2 per cent over the previous fiscal year.

The excitement and pride were palpable at the 海角社区 this past week when over 1,200 members of the Class of 2025 graduated with their undergraduate and graduate degrees. 

海角社区 will celebrate over 1,200 graduates at Convocation ceremonies to be held from May 13 to 16, 2025, at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. Each ceremony will start at 10:00 am and will be preceded by a procession of graduates across campus.

The 海角社区 will honour four outstanding leaders with honorary degrees during Convocation 2025, which will take place from May 13 to 16. Over 1,200 students are set to graduate over four ceremonies, which start at 10:00 am each day at the 海角社区 Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre.
