We are seeking a Student Research Assistant to support a study examining Prince Edward Island residents’ engagement with and attitudes toward environmental policies and community issues, with a particular focus on the province’s net-zero emissions goal. The successful candidate will contribute to a comparative study between Charlottetown and Summerside, assisting with participant recruitment, data collection and analysis, and community engagement activities. This research notably aims to understand how PEI communities perceive and respond to environmental policy initiatives as the province works toward achieving its net-zero emissions target.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement & Recruitment 

  • Conduct participant recruitment in public locations across Charlottetown and Summerside 
  • Approach potential participants professionally in community centers, libraries, farmers markets, and other public spaces
  • Distribute study information cards with QR codes and web links
  • Email & Coordinate with community organizations and municipal partners

Data Collection Support 

  • Monitor Qualtrics survey participation rates and demographic representation
  • Ensure data quality control and documentation standards
  • Track recruitment progress and adjust strategies as needed

Data Management & Analysis 

  • Organize and manage survey response data
  • Assist with preliminary data analysis under supervision

Administrative & Documentation 

  • Maintain detailed research documentation and recruitment logs
  • Support preparation of research materials

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • Must be a current º£½ÇÉçÇø student
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for public engagement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with online survey platforms like Qualtrics is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and maintain professional conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data management or quantitative research
  • Knowledge of PEI communities and environmental initiatives
  • Previous public engagement experience
