Student Assistant - Mens Hockey - In-Game Host - Department of Athletics and Recreation
$17.60 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
September 2, 2025 – March 30, 2026
We are looking for an In-Game Host for the Men’s Hockey games. The In-Game Host is responsible for creating an engaging and energetic atmosphere throughout live home games, ensuring that fans are entertained and actively involved throughout the event. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hockey, an outgoing personality, and the ability to engage with fans of all ages. This position requires a high level of enthusiasm, quick thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fan Engagement:
- Lead fan interactions during intermissions, timeouts, and breaks, creating an exciting game-day atmosphere
- Conduct on-ice activities, such as contests, promotions, and fan giveaways, to keep fans involved
Promotion of Team and Sponsorships:
- Integrate/Activate sponsor promotions and team initiatives into the in-game entertainment
- Maintain awareness of all sponsors and ensure proper placement and acknowledgment during broadcasts and in-arena activities. This includes event set up, announcers script, video board show)
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Varsity Coordinator to create and execute entertainment scripts, promotions and activities
- Coordinate with the announcer, video board technician, DJ, social media intern, event staff, and other in-arena staff to ensure smooth and synchronized in-game events
- Assist the Varsity Coordinator with Home Game theming, Video Board Show and promotional strategies
Game-Day Preparation:
- Arrive on time and fully prepared to host, ensuring that all segments are planned and coordinated
- Review game scripts, ensure proper cues, and assist with any special game-day announcements or activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current º£½ÇÉçÇø student
- A high level of energy and enthusiasm with the ability to engage and connect with fans of all ages
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment and handle live, on-the-spot hosting duties
- Comfortable interacting with fans, players, and staff in a professional and friendly manner
- A deep understanding of the game of hockey
- Flexible schedule with availability for evening and weekend games
Priority will be given to º£½ÇÉçÇø students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
