Student Rec Time
º£½ÇÉçÇø Student Rec Time is an opportunity for º£½ÇÉçÇø students to participate in recreational sports and activities on campus at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre gymnasiums and/or the º£½ÇÉçÇø Turf Field.
How to Book Student Rec Time

Fall Semester (September 21 to December 5, 2025)
- Sundays, Gymnasium A: 6:00–9:30 pm
- Wednesdays, Gymnasium C: 6:00–9:00 pm

Fall Semester (September 24 to November 5, 2025)
- Wednesdays, Turf Field: 7:30–9:30 pm

GET ACTIVE WITH CAMPUS REC SUNDAYS!
º£½ÇÉçÇø Campus Life Program and the º£½ÇÉçÇø Student Union are teaming up to bring you weekly Campus Rec programming—exclusively for º£½ÇÉçÇø students! Join us every Sunday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre's Gymnasiums B and C for fun, fitness, and friendly competition.
Whether you're looking to stay active, meet new people, or just unwind before the week begins, there's something for everyone!
Guidelines for Booking Student Rec Time Space
To ensure fair and organized access to Student Rec Time, please review the following guidelines:
- Advance booking required: All space requests must be submitted at least one month in advance.
- º£½ÇÉçÇø student access only: Student Rec Time is reserved exclusively for º£½ÇÉçÇø full-time students.
- Eligible groups: Bookings must be made by recognized campus groups such as the Business Society, Residence Life, AVC and Engineering student groups, Campus Life programs, Student Union clubs and similar student-led organizations.
- Fair use guidelines: No group may monopolize space or booking times. If your group is seeking additional time beyond what’s available through Student Rec, you may contact Stephanie Knickle, Manager of Campus and Community Recreation at sknickle@upei.ca to rent facility space.
- Note for varsity teams and clubs: Varsity sport teams and clubs are not eligible to book Student Rec Time, as they already have designated facility access.

- Wednesday, September 24 — 6:00–9:00 pm — Gym C — Badminton Drop-in
- Wednesday, October 1 — 6:00–9:00 pm — Gym C — Pickleball Drop-in
- Wednesday, October 5— 6:00–9:00 pm — Gym C — Badminton Drop-in
What activities can and cannot be played on certain courts in the main gymnasium
- No badminton or pickleball in Gymnasium A or B (main court) because there are no lines or hole posts available.
- There is no indoor hockey or field hockey in Gymnasium A or B (main court) due to possible damage to the main court floor.
- There is no indoor cricket in Gymnasium A, B, or C due to possible damage to the floor.
Any other facility booking requests will cost a fee and will need to be booked by contacting Stephanie Knickle, Manager; Campus and Community Recreation - sknickle@upei.ca.
Guidelines for facility spaces and behaviour and conduct
All participants must abide by the rules and policies of the facility. Failure to comply can result in suspension from facility and programs.
- Allowing someone else to use your identification to gain access to the º£½ÇÉçÇø Student Rec Time will result in suspension as well as notification to Student Services as a violation of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Student Code of Conduct. Providing your university identification to another student for their unauthorized access to a university building is a violation of:
- Section 7.3 (o): unauthorized entry or access to any part of campus or willingly allowing others to do so.
- Section 7.3 (q): forgery, misuse, or alteration of any University document or record.
- We will have a gym monitor present to help set up the necessary equipment, but no officials or referees will run activities or sports.
Equipment we have
Athletics and Recreation has the following equipment for use in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre and the º£½ÇÉçÇø Turf. Basketball balls, outdoor soccer balls, indoor soccer balls (futsal), volleyballs, pickleball racquets and balls; ultimate frisbees; Spikeball; dodgeballs, badminton racquets and shuttles.
- Miscellaneous items including pylons and pinnies.
- Nets and poles for:
- full court volleyball
- small court volleyball (use a badminton court with taller poles)
- badminton
- pickleball

The Committee meets quarterly to determine the activity schedule, respond to requests from the student population, and listen to feedback.
